Individual Therapy

I approach individual therapy as a collaborative exploration of the initial concerns bringing you into therapy. Those initial concerns are often only the surface of what is really going on. I consider the space of therapy to be a place of emotional freedom, authentic expression and a compassionate place to explore and support your needs, goals, and hopes for yourself.

Couples Therapy

All relationships have challenges and sometimes you’ll need the guidance to help you and your partner get through the tough times. I am committed to helping couples who are having difficulties overcoming their differences and problems. I offer a safe space to help couples grow, heal from personal and partnership wounds, to become reconnected.

Anger Management

Anger is a normal emotion, that at times, for many different reasons, can become the default emotion. Over years of using anger to manage your internal states, you can become detached from experiencing other emotions, relationships can become distant or avoidant or the anger can lead to destructive or violent circumstances. Anger management isn’t about not experiencing anger. It is about understanding the origins of it, accepting the strength of the emotion and identifying constructive and healthier coping skills.

Grief & Loss

Grief therapy is intended to help you cope with loss. Loss comes in many forms, for instance, death, divorce, job loss or physical or emotional disability . After a loss, grief can feel overwhelming and all consuming, resulting in difficulty managing emotions, following through with obligations or adapting to the necessary changes. Counseling for grief can utilize many different techniques that are customized for your needs.

Trauma Therapy

Statistically speaking, 50% of the population will experience some form of trauma in their lifetime. Forms of trauma can come from a variety of sources, some being military combat, sexual violence, chronic abuse or neglect, or a vehicular accident. While not all experiences of trauma result in long term or severe difficulties functioning, for some, it needs specialized treatment to assist in overcoming the trauma related issues or possibly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There are a variety of evidence-based, effective, therapeutic interventions that we can explore to address the concerns.

Substance Abuse/Addictions

Individual therapy for treating substance abuse can be an effective method of addressing the addictive problems. It can allow the client to find the root of their addiction, and allows them to specifically focus on uniquely identified coping skills that are relevant to their circumstances and needs. As evidence indicates that substance abuse is often combined with other mental health concerns, it allows the client and the therapist to customize their care to address both together.
